Our beautiful, big, unbrave boy was tragically hit by a car on 3 February 2004. He didn't suffer for long. Thankfully, some kind soul saw him lying on the road and stopped to lift him to the pavement. She found our phone number on his collar and called to let us know, otherwise we may never have known.
He's now resting under his favourite trees with the birdies that he loved so well keeping him company. We won't forget you, Boom.
The last two pictures we took of him are below - taken on 25 January.
Katya will miss you too.
Katya is our Tonkinese. This breed's history is intricately linked with that of the Siamese and Burmese breeds and shares the best characteristics of both. Tonks are very playful and need a lot of attention or they quickly get bored. Ours loves to play "fetch" with elastic bands and will come and drop one at your feet when she's in the mood for some fun.
Boom is an Asian Smoke which I don't think is a recognised breed. His parents were Burmese and Burmilla, the latter of which is itself the offspring of Burmese and Chinchilla. He's a lot less outgoing than Katya but rewarding in his own way. He did teach Katya that she could open doors by hanging on the handle and letting gravity do the work, although he is a good bit bigger and heavier. Now we have to keep them under lock and key!
