The Festival des Granges was held in the picturesque village of Laimont in the north of France over the weekend of 27 August 2004.
There were various acoustic concerts from the Friday evening right through to the Sunday evening, as well as masterclasses run by some of the artists, including the one I signed up for with fingerstyle extraordinaire, Pierre Bensusan. Pierre is one of the most musical people I've ever met and his playing is an inspiration to me.
The festival saw a lot of rain, particularly on the Saturday which was pretty much a washout. There are concert venues dotted around the village, including a big stage in a huge field.
Also well worth checking out was the beer brewed in a little brasserie run by an Englishman, Ben Henry, a most friendly chap indeed. He brews, amongst other things, a wonderful English porter, the predecessor to Irish stout. Unfortunately I didn't discover him and his wares until the Sunday, the day I was driving back to Luxembourg. I did bring a couple of bottles back home with me though.
